It is well known that Denver is consistently in the top 3 most fit cities in the country; LiveWell Colorado intends to keep it that way. Founded in 2007, LiveWell Colorado is a nonprofit organization committed to reducing obesity in Colorado by promoting healthy eating and active living. In addition to educating and inspiring people to make healthy choices, LiveWell Colorado focuses on policy, environmental and lifestyle changes that remove barriers and increase access to healthy behaviors. Working in partnership with obesity prevention initiatives across the state, LiveWell Colorado aims to provide every Coloradan with access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity in the places they live, work, learn and play (taken from livewellcolorado.com).
The Road Show is proud to have been a part of their downtown LiveWell at work initiative downtown in conjunction with the Pavilions off of historic 16th street mall. Through this partnership, workers of downtown Denver got to work out with Mayor Hancock and Jamie the Rally Man as well as attend yoga classes right downtown through Qi Fitness. Other classes offered were hula-hoop fitness classes or “hooping” as well as belly dancing. The message of just get moving at least for a couple minutes each day and pairing that with healthy eating choices was reinforced by vendors offering products that help all of us eat smarter and healthier.
